I can really relate to the History channels hit series “Pawn Stars”. Rick and the gang really like their jobs, their store is always hopping and he gets a glimmer in his eye whenever he sees something he knows is collectable or unique.  We get to have those same experiences here at the store. We never know what we are going to see on a day to day basis.  Today someone dropped off a Hermes cross body bag in pink, a new Chanel spring coat and a never worn Emilio Pucci caftan.  Yesterday it was over 200 pair of shoes, all in pristine condition by some of our favorite Italian designers.  I can’t even get started on jewelry. Would it be the beautiful stone creations by a local artist wanting to consign her wares? Or vintage Lagos, Rebecca Collins, Diane Malouf or just a stellar multi strand angel skin coral necklace with the huge shell clasp that anyone would feel proud to have in their collection?  The fine craftsmanship of John Hardy, Stephen Dweck and David Yurman pass through our doors and out to the sales floor for someone else to wear and enjoy.   Jewelry from estates pours in here regularly. It may be unmarked but could it be Chanel from way back before it was marked?  Beautiful old silver pieces by artisan’s long passed.  We have items that people loved, carried, wore and displayed with much appreciation and knowledge.  We see couture items on a regular basis. What a privilege it is to see the creations of some of the best (new and old) designers known and followed loyally by many in this world.  Bottega Veneta, Longchamp, the aforementioned Hermes and Chanel, Louis Vuitton that may have been bought in Italy and have just that unique look to it not found here in the states.  Some of my favorites?  The soft grey suede strappy Kate Spade sandals I am wearing,  the perfect little black Dolce& Gabbana evening dress,    a unique mosaic beaded vintage necklace I was able to gift to someone very special,  handbags by Italian designers I never knew existed,  and the perfect set of malachite beads I wear almost every day. Thrifting, Consignment shopping, Vintage stores.. every girl needs to have a list of these to go to when she needs to explore, roam, dream. And go alone, so you can stay for hours, these places take time to find just the right treasure. You will love the people you meet and the things you find. We hope you add us to your list. We enjoyed noshing at the new ElieTahari boutique on Wednesday night at Northpark. Nice too that part of last nights sales benefitted the Dallas Opera!  Dusty blue is a big part of Tahari’s spring color scheme and lots of silky, drapey, sheer blouses and tops.  Mingling with the fashionista crowd we met Tracy Hull of the Dallas Opera. She filled us in on The Pursuits of Passion 2012-2013 Opera season and it looks positively enticing! Top that off with their big event at Cowboys Stadium on April 28^thand you have a win win.. http://dallasopera.org/season/2011-2012/magic-flute/cowboys/!  We salute the time tested beauty and class of Elie Tahari clothing  (we love it for resale too) and we will see you at the opera. Well we are breathing a lovely sigh of relief that our big commercial shoot went so well this week.  The store fairly glowed by the time the film crew arrived. Clotheshorse Anonymous founder and owner Jan Kennedy was in the house (her presence always makes things brighter than they already are around here) and told the Clotheshorse story like only she can.  Our creative director Moe Verbrugge led the camera crew through the ins and outs of the store showcasing all the best of what we have to offer. Yours truly told our PR story and Mario highlighted the consignment end of things.  Be looking for the finished product in the months ahead (evidently these things take time)..and stay tuned. We think you will like what you see.

It was certainly fashion night out in Dallas at the Pin Show last week (Fairmont Hotel Regency ballroom).  With over 1000 in attendance and approximately 20 designers showing their wares it had a very fashionable buzz !  If you’ve never been,  please look in to it for next year, you will meet so many fun people and feel like you really are on the forefront of something big—I’ve included a random collage of the evening, hope you enjoy it.  Our very own co-worker and friend Mario Alberto was a featured designer and we’ve included a write up of his work and the other designers here. http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/mixmaster/2012/02/pin_show_organizers_transforme.php

With fashion week in full swing I had to pick up the book on Anna Wintour (Editor in chief of Vogue)  titled Front Row, can’t wait to read and report back. Central Market has opened one block south of the store and it doesn’t disappoint as a matter of fact and I hereby declare it as the PERFECT grocery store. I mean who else carries limequats? Check it out.
Have you been to Dry Bar on Oak Lawn? Do try the Manhattan (sleek and smooth)well worth the $35, they are busy and happily turning out beautiful girls and their do’s all day long.

Our store is just getting going for spring. We received a special load of beautiful, high end dresses, tops and skirts from a very popular boutique in town. And all our consignors are wanting to shop again so in come their finds from all over this big beautiful world and right in to our shop. Don’t wait another day to come and experience what everyone else is talking about. My faves? Roberto Cavalli Fashion Show at Northpark

No Sara Palin glasses in this crowd but I did notice glasses were the accessory of the night. Not that that says anything about the age of the crowd but we all were at a certain .. well .. let's just say past the age of  innocence.  The Roberto Cavalli fashion show at Northpark was packed this year and we were all excited to see RC's new line. There was champagne and martini's for everyone and it was outdoors under a tent . The evening air was perfect for it.  I sat next to my new partner in crime and up and coming fashion designer himself Mario Alberto.  The men were out in droves and dressed beautifully. I love a man that can throw a velvet scarf on over his linen blazer (Mario) or one who puts a pin on his vest or is donning a wool Prada beanie.  Very sexy!  The women were beautiful too. I saw several statement necklaces, and lots of black. Thank God black is back.  Just as the lights dimmed, three beauties dressed in black head to toe slipped in next to me and on went the music and out came the models.  Jotting furiously in my notebook the girl who slipped in next to me said "those short gloves are hand embroidered"—turns out she oversees all Cavalli stores in the nation.  I was so impressed with the beautiful colors ("he gets his inspiration from the colors in his paintings and photograpy") and his travels (South African influence on the dresses this year).  Lot's of black body hugging jersey, booties, lace, satin and silk.  Even his jeans have satin applique's.  A very fresh great look from him this year. And at the end, the master himself walked the runway blowing kisses as only an Italian man can do. Come see us, we are bulging with couture, fascinating jewelry, all the "it" bags, and shoes only you can get away with wearing. And of course , some timeless Cavalli. We love this time of year!

What I loved about the Lifetime Chanel movie

Some weeks ago the Lifetime channel aired the movie Coco Chanel. Shirley Maclaine played the older Coco but the movie belonged to the actress playing Ms. Chanel's younger years, Barbora Bobulova. The movie was great and the fashions wonderful! But of course, they are from the genius herself!  Don't take my word for it though.. the New York Post called it "A delight to watch"-

It's been a busy month at Clotheshorse! My favorite consignments for the month?  A classy unique pair of Gas Bijoux earrings (Eva Longoria has to go all the way to the south of France for hers), an incredible one of a kind Stephen Dweck silver piece (you have to see to believe), Pianegonda rings and earrings, 16 pair of Lanvin, C.Dior, C.Louboutin, Hermes and YSL chunky platforms and boots, a Chanel quilted leather tote in mint condition , a black, white, and red rose decorated Lulu Guiness bag  (great for summer!) , an orange and purple glitteri Fendi evening bag and just too many more beautiful pieces to count.  I really think a visit twice a week to our store would be just about right (some customers come more often than that so as not to miss out on anything).  We love to show people around so come on in and introduce yourself and we will give you the grand tour.....

Our weekends have been bustling with prom dress and debutante shoppers.  Most seem to fairly skip out with the sweet dress of their dreams. We notice the “old” is new again. Oleg Cassini sequined mini dresses fly out of here with the 16 something set. 

A few 2009 Fall trends for you straight from a “secret source”: Red, Purples and Bright Pinks are showing up in runways.  I like the way Isaac Mizrahi says to pop neutral items with a color. He said it works every time. I tried it, and it does!

Make APRIL beautiful!

 Not to boast but we must tell! What do live music, tuna tartare, Clotheshorse Anonymous, Grey Goose, Kate Fannin, Gulfstream, Tara Harper, Modern Luxury, in vogue shoes and a fall pink sunset have in common? We were all toasting a perfectly fabulous party this past Wednesday night at JetLinx. Wow!! And thank you to our stellar rep Lia from Mod Lux for the invite...memorable!

Re-sale may not be the first place one thinks of to shop for the holidays but I have seen many beautiful, giftable items coming and going in the store.
